Saint Luigi Orione
1872 – 1940
“Only charity will save the world”
St. Luigi Orione was born in 1872 in the north of Italy.
From an early age he desired to be a priest and later discovered God’s plan for him to be a founder of 2 congregations: The Sons of Divine Providence
(priests, brothers and hermits)
and The Little Missionary Sisters of Charity
(including a branch for blind sisters
and one for contemplatives).
His motto was “Instaurare omnia in Christo”
The ideal of his life was to live and die for the salvation
of souls, serving the Church and its Head, the Pope,
for whom he had a special love and devotion.
He started many charitable works to assist those in any kind of need; the poor, the sick, the elderly, the disabled, etc.
The 2 congregations are present in many countries
in Europe, America, Asia and Africa,
including Kenya since 1979.
